Generative AI and literature search

- AI can support the research process

DTU Library offers training on how generative AI and AI-assisted search tools can support literature searching, research planning, and evidence discovery while maintaining academic quality and research integrity.

Participants will learn how to:

  • use AI tools to explore research topics, concepts, and search terms
  • combine AI-assisted searching with databases such as DTU Findit, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and IEEE Xplore
  • compare traditional search methods with AI-powered research tools such as Scite, Elicit, Consensus, ResearchRabbit, Litmaps, and Perplexity
  • develop transparent and reproducible search strategies
  • critically evaluate AI-generated results and reference findings
  • understand limitations such as hallucinations, bias, and incomplete coverage
  • apply principles of academic integrity, transparency, and responsible AI use
  • discussing prompting, best tools for specific purposes and how to avoid pitfalls.

The sessions will be designed to match the discipline-specific topics.

DTU Library promotes a practical and critical approach
AI can support the research process, but it does not replace scholarly expertise, academic databases, or critical evaluation.
