Research data mangement

- collecting, documenting, storage, sharing, publication, and preservation of research data

Training in research data management can cover many parts of the research data life cycle, including writing a data management plan, integrating the FAIR principles in daily research practices, as well as publishing research data and code.

All new employees at DTU affiliated with research must attend the mandatory course: Introduction to responsible conduct of research and research data management.

DTU Library also offers both introductions and in-dept workshops to several aspects of data management.

We typically cover topics such as:

  • Writing a data management plan
  • File naming and organisation
  • Metadata, standardisation and documentation
  • Costs of data management
  • Data flow throughout the research project
  • FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and Open Data
  • Publication of research outputs such as datasets, code, models, and instruments
  • Requirements for data availability in scientific articles and by funders
  • Use of and project collaboration in our data repository, DTU Data
  • Long-term preservation of research data.

The training can also be tailored to help your research group reflect on research data management practices.
