What is a post-print?

At DTU we have focus on the post-print version of scientific articles, as this version can often be published Open Access free of charge.

A post-print is the author's final manuscript after peer review, but without publisher layout. A post-print version has been accepted by the publisher and has the same content as the final published article.

We have chosen to use the term post-print, but post-print is also known as "Author's final version" or "Accepted version".

Many publishers make it possible for a post-print version to be published in DTU Orbit after the embargo period has expired and thus live up to the Open Access objectives.
Publishing Open Access

DTU Library checks the rules that the individual publishers have for self-archiving and the use of post-prints and makes sure to add the embargo period in the registration in DTU Orbit. Please let us know if you have made other alternative publishing agreements with the publisher.

The general rights of publishers and journals regarding self-archiving can be checked in Open policy Finder, an online service that gathers information on Open Access policies from publishers and journals from around the world.
