- free Open Access publishing in journals from Biochemical Society with Portland Press

In 2024, Danish Universities have entered a two-year national agreement with the publisher Portland Press, among other things, dealing with publishing Open Access in journals from Biochemical Society.

The agreement with Portland Press covers articles accepted in the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025.

Researchers at DTU can, as the corresponding author, publish Open Access free of charge in Portland Press’s 5 hybrid and 1 golden Open Access journals.

What to do
When you submit your research article it's important that you indicate that your article should be published Open Access under the Danish agreement.

As the corresponding author, you must select DTU as your institutional affiliation and use your DTU email address to publish under the agreement.

  • Use your DTU e-mail as the corresponding author
  • State DTU as your institutional affiliation (Technical University of Denmark)
  • Select Open Access to publish your article without publication fee.
  • Select a Creative Commons license (CC-BY default) *

Journals included
All hybrid and golden Open Access journals from Portland Press are included in the agreement. are included in the agreement.
List of eligible journals  

That is:

  • The author does not have to pay an article processing charge (APC)
  • The article is published with a CC-BY license *
  • The author retains copyright *
  • The article (Published version) becomes immediately available as Open Access
  • The article (Published version) can be archived in DTU Orbit without an embargo period
