Open Access Week: This year, DTU Library will use the international Open Access Week to promote Open Science

- a natural focus for a leading, technical university

Welcome to this year's Open Access Week.

Traditionally, during this week, we have focused on Open Access publishing – i.e. making scientific publications available to everyone free of charge.

This year, DTU Library raises the bar and tries to nudge DTU's researchers to focus on Open Science in general.

Open Science is a broader term. Open Science means that research in general (i.e. research data and other research products and not just research publications) must be freely available - if possible - for the benefit of society.

Open Science-news - and an event

Every day of this week, we will bring a news item on DTU Inside and our website, all dealing with different aspects of Open Science and Open Access at DTU.

We would also like to invite you for a small event tomorrow, Tuesday 26 October, in the library in Lyngby. Come and spend a couple of hours focusing on Open Science at DTU with inspiration, cases stories and support.

We have put together a programme with a handful of presentations about Open Science.

Provost Rasmus Larsen will talk about DTU's views on Open Science and DTU Library will present how we support Open Science at the university.

The programme is spiced up with a couple of case stories from real research life. Among other things, you can learn how sharing research data can strengthen your research and hear about the successful Citizen Science project Fangstjournalen.

You are very welcome to participate - however, we have passed the deadline for ordering coffee and sandwiches.

Open Access publishing

DTU Library has not lost our focus on Open Access publishing. It is still important that DTU reaches the national goals of 100% Open Access in 2025. Let us help each other achieve this goal.

We also still focus on Open Access to research data, here, the FAIR principles - Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Re-usable - are the centre of attention.
