Improved search performance in the online library, DTU Findit - DTU Library is committed to the continuous optimisation of the search and discovery experience for DTU researchers and students.
Last week DTU Library upgraded the search software that powers DTU Findit (Apache Solr). This has substantially improved search performance on the approximately 5000 daily searches: prior to the upgrade searches took on average 3.87 seconds, since upgrading searches now take on average less than 1 second.
Significantly, the upgrade also solves a problem with response spikes, whereby searches sometimes take five seconds or longer. These spikes are much less frequent than previously.
Online Access
Upgrading the performance means that we can offer quick selection of direct online access again - look for the Online Access box on the left. This works for all document types - even for books where we have online access to app. 190.000 e-books. You quickly get an overview of which books, journals and articles you have direct online access to right there at your own PC.
