DTU Library is working hard to make as many DTU publications as possible Open Access. Again this year, DTU reaffirmed its status as the leading Open Access University in Denmark – taking second place in the Danish Open Access Indicator measurement (only surpassed by ITU, which has very few publications compared to DTU). The Indicator measures the degree of Open Access to the research publications of the Danish universities, and 73% of DTU’s publications are Open Access.
The work goes on
DTU has joined the national Open Access strategy which aims to provide unhindered, digital access to all peer-reviewed research articles from Danish research institutions from 2025 onwards.
If we are to achieve 100% Open Access, we are dependent on DTU's researchers sending all their post-prints to DTU Library - the sooner, the better.
During this week, DTU Library will send updated Open Access figures to all DTU departments.
Send post-prints to DTU Orbit
DTU Library will also send out overviews of the publications that are registered in DTU Orbit, but where a post-print is still missing.
A post-print has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publication. It includes the changes made as a result of the peer-review process but lacks formal publisher layout. The post-print is also known as the “author’s final manuscript”, “accepted manuscript” etc.
The new DTU Orbit interface enables researchers to check their publication list and see the Open Access status for the individual titles.
If a post-print is missing, the researcher must send it to DTU Library orbit@dtu.dk
- unless it is an Open Access article where the publisher version is freely available in DTU Orbit; in such cases, the post-print is unnecessary.
Research publications are usually “hidden” behind paywalls, and mainly researchers whose institutions subscribe to the contents of the large commercial scientific databases can access them. DTU’s researchers have access to a lot of scientific literature via DTU Findit due to DTU Library’s license agreements with the large publishing houses. If you upload your post-print to DTU Orbit, your research will have a broader outreach and benefit the entire research environment.
