Tools & resources

DTU offers a range of practical tools as well as knowledge resources that can assist you in collecting, managing, documenting, and publishing your research data.

Whether you need support with high-performance computing, lab documentation, version control, or publishing your datasets, DTU provides resources to make your research workflow more efficient, transparent, and collaborative.

Below is an overview of key tools and platforms available to DTU researchers.

DTU Computing Center (DCC)

DTU Computing Center (DCC) is a central service at DTU for all staff and students, providing support for High-Performance Computing.

You can learn more about EIS here.

Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs)

ELN’s are digital versions of lab notebooks that improve readability, standardize documentation, and simplify collaboration.

Check with your department for guidelines on using ELNs and ask if your department has a local installation.

If you want to learn more about ELN possibilities,
visit the ELN Finder (created by NFDI, Germany).

GitLab & GitHub

Git is a widely used tool for versioning, documenting and publishing code.

GitLab & GitHub are two of the most used collaborative platforms for git, code (and software) development. GitLab and GitHub, as tools, allows code to be developed, versioned, documented, and made available to others.

Both platforms allow for code versioning, collaboration, and documentation.

Note: It is also possible to publish code via GitLab/GitHub in DTU Data - either directly through integration or manually.

This way, you can make versions permanently accessible and citable - for instance in connection with publishing a research article.

SurveyXact

DTU offers students and employee access to SurveyXact – a tool for creating surveys/ questionnaires.
