Validation of research can help new developments
When Victor Burrato Tinti publishes his data in DTU Data, he gets the credit he deserves for his work. His research and data can benefit other scientists and engineers working on advanced materials for energy technologies. The knowledge about ceria (cerium oxide), the topic of his research, may be used for developing more efficient sensors, actuators, and green energy solutions. The published data supports an article and was available for the peer-reviewers during their evaluation.
“We choose to publish our data to ensure complete transparency and easy access to our results. Sharing the raw and processed data allows other researchers to compare and validate our findings easily. We used DTU Data to ensure our data are at DTU servers, but accessible to everyone.” Victor states.
Ceria – a new material for the green transition
Victor talks passionated about ceria: "Imagine a material that can change shape or size in response to an electric field. This ability, known as electrostriction, is key to developing advanced sensors, actuators, and other smart technologies. Our research focuses on ceria, a material that exhibits remarkable electrostrictive properties, making it a promising candidate for green energy applications,”
Victor elaborates: “Our study investigated the microscopic imperfections within ceria. These tiny defects significantly affect how ceria responds to electric fields. We discovered that the arrangement and interaction of these defects are more important than simply their concentration.”
Victor’s team also noted other factors that could affect cerias response to electric fields. However, these factors are difficult to study, but also part of the published data.
“This research brings us one step closer to harnessing the full potential of ceria for future technologies, where materials can be as responsive and adaptable as we need them to be.”
