Once again, DTU has taken a step forward in terms of Open Access publishing, i.e., publishing with free and unrestricted online access. The Ministry of Education and Research has just released the annual Open Access Indicator.
The share of the scientific DTU publications published Open Access in this year's survey is 81% corresponding to an increase of app. 4%. Thus, DTU continues to rank near the top among all the Danish universities.
The progress is primarily attributed to our publishing agreements, extensively used by DTU's researchers. With these agreements, researchers achieve Open Access publishing in numerous journals without incurring costs or facing embargoes.
A portion of the progress can be credited to a new practice enabling DTU Library to link to Open Access articles in various repositories recognized by the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education, especially when rights holders do not allow the article to be stored locally in DTU Orbit.

More agreements on free Open Access publishing
Cost-free Open Access publishing is increasingly integrated in the agreements on access to scientific literature negotiated with the publishers by DTU Library and the Royal Library's National Licensing Consortium on behalf of DTU.
Please remember to make use of the agreements and make your publications Open Access for the benefit of the research community, for your own "visibility", and, most importantly, to meet the requirements of funders and granters.

Send your post-print to DTU Library
Some publishers allow for "parallel publication" of the post-print version or authors accepted manuscript in the university's research database DTU Orbit, some with an embargo period. The post-print version of the article thus becomes Open Access.
Please send the post-print version of your scientific articles to DTU Library, and we will take care of the registration in DTU Orbit and ensure that copyright and any embargo periods for the publication are complied with. In this way, we can get the remaining 366 publications made Open Access.

Follow DTU's Open Access figures - as well as for departments and sections
DTU Library monitors DTU's Open Access figures with data from DTU Orbit. We have integrated Open Access statistics for DTU publications in DTU Research Output Statistics system integrated DTU Findit. The statistics are designed to monitor and document inputs to the annual UMV statistics.
