- reading access to previous years’ publications
After a lengthy negotiation process, the Royal Danish Library - National License Consortium and "Universitetsdirektørudvalget" have decided to discontinue negotiations with Oxford University Press regarding a national license agreement for 2026. The decision applies to both the journal package and the Oxford English Dictionary.
There will still be continuous reading access to previous years’ publications in the various journals via DTU Findit. It is only the newest content published in 2026 that we will no longer have access to. In total, 390 journals from Oxford University Press will be affected.
When you search in DTU Findit for an article published in an Oxford University Press journal, that we currently do not have access to, you will only find a reference for the article, and you will not be able to download the full text. However, there will be a link to alternative options for gaining access to the article.

DTU Library has compiled an overview of alternative ways to access articles by using Open Access options and networks.
Alternative ways to get articles
DTU Findit contains several Open Access databases and provides access to 33 million Open Access publications within DTU’s research areas.
If you are searching for OUP Open Access articles, you should therefore start in DTU Findit. In addition, the library would also like to highlight the following databases as alternative entry points to OUP Open Access articles: HAL, Openalex and PubMedCentral.
The library’s automatic setup in DTU Findit, which normally allows you to quickly order and retrieve articles from journals that are not covered by our subscriptions, will no longer work for articles from Oxford University Press.
It has not been possible to move OUP toward the Danish mandate, which requires immediate and free access to Danish research publications, Open Access, as well as no price increases for reading access. Negotiations have been ongoing throughout 2025.
The Royal Danish Library - National License Consortium will only resume negotiations with Oxford University Press when it becomes possible to explore new options for a license agreement, which would first apply from 2027. We expect that the lack of access to articles published by Oxford University Press in 2026 will be in effect for all of 2026.
