Together with other Danish university libraries, DTU Library is celebrating an important 10th anniversary in the fall of 2024: the establishment of a Danish ORCID consortium as one of the first of its kind in the world, with the participation of DTU. Since 2014, DTU researchers have been able to create an ORCID and link it to their research publications and other research outputs.
ORCID is a unique and internationally recognized researcher ID. To put it simple, ORCID connects research and researchers.
ORCID is independent and non-commercial and is supported by publishers, organizations, foundations, and many universities.
All researchers must have an ORCID
DTU's publication policy states that all researchers at DTU, from Ph.D. level to professors, must create an ORCID. One of the advantages is that the ORCID can be linked to the researcher’s profile in DTUBasen. Thus, it can be used to showcase a researcher’s entire research output via the profile in DTU's online phonebook DTU Orbit, and soon also via DTU Data.
At DTU, we have integrated ORCID with DTUBasen and DTU Orbit. DTU researchers can set up synchronization between DTU Orbit and ORCID. This way, ORCID will automatically find all publications registered in DTU Orbit, keeping the researcher’s ORCID profile updated.
