This year, DTU achieves another good position in the measurement from the Danish Open Access Indicator. The indicator shows the share of scientific publications from the Danish universities published as Open Access, i.e. with unhindered, digital access for all to the peer-reviewed research article.
Over 73% of DTU's publications are now Open Access.
We can do better - together
This year's share has not increased much since last year, 0.5 % more publications are now Open Access. The curve has flattened out and there is still some way to go before we reach the 100%, which is the goal for 2025 according to the national Open Access strategy that DTU has joined.
If we are to achieve 100% Open Access, we are dependent on DTU's researchers continuing to send all their post-prints to DTU Library - the faster, the better. DTU researchers generally have to consider Open Access when they publish, as this is a requirement with most funding bodies.
Send your post-prints to the library
During this week, DTU Library will send the latest Open Access figures to all DTU departments.
Included is an overview of the publications registered in DTU Orbit, where a post-print is still missing.
A post-print - also called "author's final version", "accepted version" etc. - is the peer-reviewed version of the article approved for publication but not yet provided with publisher layout and logo.

Please check your publication list
In DTU Orbit all researchers can check their own publication list and see the Open Access status for the individual articles.
Whenever a post-print is missing, the researcher must send it to us at orbit@dtu.dk
DTU Library ensures that copyright and embargo periods are complied with.
For Open Access articles, where the publisher version is freely available in DTU Orbit, the post-print is not relevant.
Open Access publishing in journals - the help is there ...
As part of DTU Library's journal subscriptions, some publishers give DTU researchers a discount on APC, Article Processing Charges, when they publish. For the majority of these agreements, the discount is on Open Access publishing.
DTU Library has introduced a search interface where you can search at title level for the journals covered by DTU's discount agreements, and where information about Open Access is presented.
