One of the ways in which to make your research Open Access is paying your publisher or journal to do it. This is called Article Processing Charges (APC) and can make your article Open Access immediately.
Some publishers offer a discount on APCs as a part of DTU's subscription and below you can read more about the discounts.

The publisher AAAS / Science has launched an Open Access policy which we are testing for a period of one year (2021). The Open Access policy means that all articles where the underlying research is supported by cOAlition S / Plan S organizations will be awarded:
- CC-BY or CC-BY-ND-licens to the Author Accepted Manuscript (Post-print)
- The author retains copyright
- Author Accepted Manuscript (Post-print) can be published in a repository without an embargo period, i.e. DTU Orbit.
This applies to articles published from 1 January 2021 in one of the AAAS / Science family's journals with subscription:
- Science
- Science Signaling
- Science Transformative Medicine
- Science Immunology
- Science Robotics
The organizations that support the implementation of Plan S, and are included in AAAS 'new Open Access policy as of January 1, 2021, are listed in this overview (marked as ‘Early adopter’ in the Rights Retention Strategy Implementation column):

This means that if the research is founded by EU Horizon and the results are published in one of the mentioned journals, it can become immediately Open Access available.
Do I have to pay Article Processing Charge (APC) to publish Open Access at AAAS / Science?
APC is not required to make articles published in the journals above immediately accessible to all (Open Access).
You can not publish hybrid Open Access in the five subscription journals - as before. AAAS / Science make the articles (published version) in the subscribed journals freely available after 12 months and gives you the option to publish Accepted Author Manuscript (peer-reviewed version / Post-print) in a repository like DTU Orbit.
With the new policy, the article can now be immediately accessible Open Access if the research is founded by cOAlition S / Plan S organizations.
