Exhibition on wind power

"New winds are blowing over DTU Wind Energy" - Exhibition at DTU Library, Lyngby, in September

Wind power has been used for thousands of years, for example, to grind grain in the Persian mills from B.C. or to propel sailing ships even earlier. Wind power is basically a free energy source and therefore we are determined to extract this energy in the most optimal way. The goal is to combine technology, science, creativity and innovative solutions up to a higher level in order to reap wind energy in the smartest way.

The wind turbine type internationally referred to as the "Danish concept" is the familiar three-bladed horizontal axle runs. But wind energy, and research and technology in this field, is far more than just the above dominant of this mentioned wind turbines in megawatt size. This research is also being carried out for more innovative concepts such as vertical axis wind turbines, which at least theoretically should be able to achieve a higher efficiency.

September's exhibition at DTU Library is a presentation of a vertical axis wind turbine and a race car propelled exclusively by headwind. Come and feel the wind.

We invite the audience welcome to the exhibition and good luck with the academic year.
