Once again, we would like to encourage DTU researchers to make use of DTU Library’s many agreements concerning Open Access publishing. Not only can you meet the Open Access requirements set by funders and grant providers, but you can also save on publication costs. Open Access also ensures that your research reaches a broad audience for the benefit of all societies and increase your personal visibility.
DTU Library wishes to help our researchers comply with the Open Access requirements from funders and grant providers.
Discount on Open Access publishing
Cost-free Open Access publishing is included in several of the publisher agreements for access to scientific literature that DTU Library and the Royal Danish Library’s National Licensing Consortium negotiate on behalf of DTU, and others. In other publisher and society agreements, substantial discounts on Open Access publishing are included.
Remember to budget for publication costs
In all cases, you should budget for publication fees in your research funding applications. Open Access publishing may involve costs if the journal is not covered by one of the agreements, if an agreement’s quota has been used up, or if the agreement just provides a discount and not full coverage of the Article Processing Charge (APC).

There is money to save
A classic way to obtain Open Access is to pay the publisher or journal a fee to make the article immediately available as Open Access, an APC.
By using DTU Library’s discount on the Open Access payment (APC), DTU’s overall costs for Open Access publishing are reduced. Researchers can achieve Open Access publication in a range of journals either free of charge or with a discount on the publication fee, and without embargo period!

Always use your DTU email address
Always select DTU as your institutional affiliation and use your corresponding DTU email address when publishing under the Open Access terms of the agreements.
You must always use your DTU email address when submitting your manuscript. This ensures that you are recognized as affiliated with DTU and that the discount is applied. This is of course important.
