A position as Laboratory engineer is available within drug delivery. The purpose of the position is to be involved and support projects related to nanoparticles for inflammation-and cancer therapies as well as anti-microbial therapy.

The position is part of the Colloids and Biological Interface (CBIO) group at the Department of Micro and Nanotechnology – DTU Nanotech.

Primary areas of responsibility
The successful applicant will support and contribute to several projects where novel drug delivery systems are developed for common human diseases.

The research projects currently run at the CBIO-group focus on formulation, characterization and analysis of liposomal or micelle-based drug delivery systems followed by experimental testing in cells and small animals. More specifically, the tasks performed by a Laboratory engineer will involve:

  • Run, support and service parts of the group´s analytical equipment, in particular the ICP-MS
  • Assist in development and formulation of drug-containing nanoparticles with focus on remote loading of small molecules
  • Development and running of biochemical and biophysical assays for functional characterization of nanoparticles
  • Studying the effects and interactions of the nanoparticles towards cultured cell using FACS
Other content of the position
  • Teaching at experimental DTU courses may be part of the position
Our expectations of you
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent

The applicant should have academic qualifications and experimental experience equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Research Scientist for no less than 5 years.
  • Expertise and practical experience in analytical tools for trace metals such as ICP-MS is essential
  • The candidates should have extensive experience in formulation and biophysical characterization of drug-containing nanoparticles, in particular liposomes with emphasis on remote loading of small molecules
  • Strong background in biochemistry-and cell biology including hands on experience in flow cytometry
  • The ideal candidates also have experience in analyzing pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of nanoparticles in small animals using radiolabeled compounds and experimental metal markers.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
